Donor Advised Funds

Additional Information

What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes, like Rumshock Veterans Foundation! DAF allows you, the donor, to reduce tax costs immediately. Through your financial advisor you can then grant those funds out to charities like Rumshock Veterans Foundation over time.

If you already have a donor-advised fund, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants to Rumshock Veterans Foundation, directly from your DAF.

How does it work?

  1. Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax deductible donation to a public charity that supports your DAF program. Any investment growth is tax-free.
  2. Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets.
  3. Recommend grants to the charities you support, with the option of being recognized or remaining anonymous.
  4. If you are with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon, you can recommend a grant to Rumshock Veterans Foundation using DAF Direct. The designation field allows you to indicate if your gift is in memory/honor of someone or if it is for general/program support. This is not a required field.
  5. If your DAF is not listed, please contact the host of your DAF directly to recommend a grant.
