Larry Neumann, Vet2Vet Program Coordinator: “If you ask a soldier, what do they fear, what do they fear the most, you might think the answer would be getting shot, getting killed. I don’t want to die. That’s not their biggest fear. Their biggest fear is when I get back home, will I have housing? Will I be able to find a job? Will I be able to reintegrate back into the civilian life that I once had?”

Tiny home community could bring shelter, support, employment to veterans in Orange County
Rachel Ettlinger | Oct 19, 2020 | Times Herald-Record
Rumshock Veterans Foundation, a nonprofit founded in February 2019 to provide military members with post-service support, received $400,000 that was secured and announced by New York state Sen. Jen Metzger’s office at a news conference Tuesday at the Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge 2067. That funding will go toward purchasing land and eventually breaking ground to make the estimated $3 million project, Victory Village, a reality.
A Sustainable Community for Veterans with Four Important Components…
There is no way to adequately thank the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom and safety. But we can offer them a second chance – an opportunity to be successful members of a supportive community! The staff and volunteers at Rumshock Veterans Foundation are working to do all we can to offer veterans the opportunity to improve their physical, mental, and emotional health as well as reconnect with society through meaningful activities. There are four components to the Foundation’s sustainable program: 1) Victory Village, a tiny home community; 2) Hydroponic Farming, maintained by Village residents; 3) Victory Transportation, to assist Village residents in making appointments to healthcare providers and other necessities; and 4) E-Waste Recycling, involving the recovery of materials to be used in future production.
